One of the ways we prepare our hearts for the birth of our savior is through the prism of art. Just in time for Advent, the celebrated contemporary artist Mako Fujimura has published a new book that brings together his giftedness in making exquisite art and demystifying the theology of our Christian faith. As we bring the broken year 2020 to a close, how can beauty point us to the promise of the new world ushered in by Jesus being born in a manger? Watch Mako create a little work of art -- live on the webcast -- while listening to his explication of a “theology of making.”
Mako was appointed by President George W. Bush to the National Council on the Arts from 2003-2009. His artwork has been displayed in museums and sold in galleries across the world. He is The Gathering’s Artist-in-Residence for 2020-21.
