Socrates in the City

Author Eric Metaxas joined us this year at The Gathering to talk about his best-selling book, "Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy," as well as introduce the release of his newest book, "Socrates in the City: Conversations about Life, God and Other Small Topics." The book is scheduled for release next month.

Metaxas is founder and host of the event by the same name, a forum for busy professionals to come together to think about "the bigger questions in life." Socrates in the City has heard from such notable thinkers and writers as Dr. Francis Collins, Sir John Polkinghorne, Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks, N.T. Wright, Os Guinness, Peter Kreeft or George Weigel.

The book is a collection of original essays from these luminaries and others, taking on life, God, evil, redemption and other important subjects. The book addresses topics vital to both secular and Christian thinking, such as "Making Sense Out of Suffering," "The Concept of Evil after 9/11," and "Can a Scientist Pray?"
