In what has been termed "the biggest fundraising drive in history," Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates are asking the wealthiest 400 people in America to pledge at least 50%25 of their net worth to charity during their lifetimes or at death. If successful, the campaign could send an estimated $600 billion towards various philanthropic efforts.

Florida Adopts Legislation to Protect Foundations' Autonomy

The state of Florida recently passed a law limiting how much the government can do to regulate foundations and their diversity practices. The new law grants charitable donors the freedom to give to the charities they care about and in the manner that they think will be most effective. Many of its backers believe the law will spur charitable giving and protect foundations from undue outside influence.
